FC Beckham Officially launched it's Under 15 Team
One of the active football clubs in Sierra Leone, Beckham Football Club has on the 16th of April 2022, officially launched its junior team, FC Beckham under 15 team at the Allen Town football field in Freetown.
Launching the FC Beckham 7/23 junior team, the Secretary-General of FC Beckham, Alhassan Bangura said that the reason for launching the junior team is because of the passion the president of FC Beckham, Mohamed Tejan Jalloh has for football and also intends to establish a football academy where they will train the players to join the senior team of FC Beckham.
"Any club who wants to establish a football academy must have a junior team" he added, noting that FC Beckham will be establishing a real football academy soon which he said will expose the players and allow them to be selected to join the national team, Leone star.
He said that their dreams are to see FC Beckham be among the five top football clubs in Sierra Leone.
The Secretary-General informed that they already have the senior team and now they are proud of having a junior side of FC Beckham.
The Secretary-General disclosed that the junior team comprises 44 players with all its football gear ranging from football jerseys, football boots, footballs, sucks and others.
Speaking on their challenges, the Secretary-General noted that one of their main challenges is that the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) competition is not playing at the moment, has it is affecting many football clubs to maintain their players, so he used the opportunity to call on the WAFA football stakeholders to reconsider of organising the WAFA league and to always communicate with them.
He pointed out that if the WAFA competition is ongoing, it will help improve the players and the club as well.
Mr Alhassan Bangura revealed that most of the clubs that were competing in the WAFA league are no more because most of the clubs can not maintain the players because of a lack of finances and logistics, stating that FC Beckham is one of the clubs that still maintaining its junior team.
The Technical Director, FC Beckham Foday said that the establishment of the FC Beckham 7/ 23 junior team is a great opportunity for FC Beckham as they will not lack players to join FC Beckham senior team.
He underscored that any football club that intends of establishing a football academy must have a junior team.
"As a team, we have put all structures together to maintain both the senior and junior teams" he stated, adding that most of the junior teams in other clubs can not maintain their players because the WAFA competition is not playing for now.
Former Leone Star player, Kemonkai Kallon said that he is pleased to be part of the official launch of the FC Beckham under 15 team.
He recalled that this is the same way they started playing until they were selected to join the national team, leone star.
He commended the President of FC Beckham for allowing the boys to use their talent and also for promoting football in Sierra Leone.
He told stakeholders of FC Beckham that they should maintain the players so that the club will not lack players and it will be at the advantage of the country to have more players to play for the national team and also allow the boys to play for another international football clubs.
He noted that FC Kallon is also one of the football clubs that have its junior team, "If all the football clubs have under 12, 15 and 17 it will help promote football in the country" he maintained.
He encouraged FC Beckham stakeholders to maintain the players as FC Kallon has done over the years.
One of the players playing for FC Beckham's 7/23 junior team, Alusine said that he is happy to be part of the junior team.
He informed that he recently joined the team and because of his skills, he has been selected to play centre midfield for the junior team.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the President of FC Beckham for allowing them to make good use of their talent.
He also extended his thanks on behalf of his colleagues to the management of FC Beckham for the sure opportunity.
